2023 in Review

As we ring the new year in, take a look at some of the fun things the St. Louis Section was up to this year! Thank you to all who were involved this year and participated. We hope 2024 brings in just as many exciting events and opportunities!

We took a tour of the Commemorative Air Force Musuem Missouri Wing. Our members learned about various planes and saw some of the in progress restoration work. We also participated in South City’s STEAM night. Our members and volunteers handed out STEM kits for families to put together and SWE comic books.

We booked a Geek Tour at the St. Louis Zoo to see some behind the scenes areas. The tour focused on the water filtration system and how the zoo keeps the water in our favorite animal exhibits clean. We also participated in a self defense Krav Maga class

SWE members participated in a STEM night at Barretts Elementary. We helped students assemble stethescopes and handed out SWE comic books. Our members joined a team at the Space Museum and Grissom Center for Women in Space Day! They were able to hear from retired astronauts, authors, and those who contributed to our journey in space.

We held a kick off brunch to FY24 at the Hearth Room and had a great time getting to know each other. We had such a good time we forgot to document all the fun!

Members, family and friends got together and volunteered at St. Louis Area Foodbank. Volunteers processed roughly 6,400 pounds of food during our two hours there which provided about 5,200 meals for the hungry!

We visisted the City Museum and took an architetcural tour. Our guide shared all the fun stories of how the St. Louis icon came to be what is it today.

We hosted our first event in the Power Hour series with Spire. Members got learn about the work Spire does and what being an engineer there looks like. Thank you to the Spire team for coming out and speaking with us!

Our second power hour event was in partnership with Danforth International Women in Science. We learned about all of the interesting work happening at the Danforth Center and made some great connections! Thank you to the Danforth Center for hosting and being a partner in the event.

Thank you again to all who participated in 2023! It was a great start to FY24 and we hope to have many more exciting events in the second half of FY24, stay tuned!
