Engineer Like a SWE Member Abstracts
This Leadership Coaching Committee module provide an overview of the Society of Women Engineers. It shows SWE’s mission and goals, history, organizational structure, and governance.
SWE leaders are often so passionate about furthering SWE's mission that we wind up stretching ourselves too thin. We can't help it, we're "do-ers". Or can we? SWE Leadership Coaches will lead the discussion to help you understand, treat, and prevent leadership burnout in your SWE section.
This session will introduce basic financial information that all treasurers should be aware of, including deadlines, proper record keeping, and annual reports. Additionally, the SWE Finance Committee has created a SWE-budget template in excel that will be introduced with the group to help sections keep better financial records. There will be time for questions related to SWE finances. All section leadership is invited to attend, as well as those with an interest in finance who may soon consider the role of treasurer.
If your company is a stereotypical engineering firm, you might be wondering where the 28% of female associates are. Assess where your company stands and if you can benefit from an Employee Resource Group (ERG). Learn how some women implemented the Garmin ERG using a SWE event and lessons learned. Benefits, challenges and current statistics will be shared regarding the first year of the women’s ERG at Garmin. This session will help you find and connect with the women in your organization in meaningful ways.
SWE’s Leadership Coaching Committee (LCC) is a trained group of 75+ professionals and seasoned collegiate with extensive SWE involvement, who want to help your section better leadership and professional development! LCC coaches can present modules to your section either virtually or in person, and are available for counseling throughout the year. This session will start with a short presentation about what is happening in LCC right now to get you thinking about how LCC can help your section, followed with an opportunity to meet your LCC coach and ask any leadership professional development questions that your section has.
This meetings is targeted for both Collegiate & Professional Section Presidents. We will highlight key dates for the rest of FY17. There will be conversation about what's going well this year, what Presidents would like to see in the second half of the year, and there will also be an opportunity to ask questions. Highly recommended for all Section Presidents in attendance.
Graduating seniors (May/December 2017) and SWE life members re invited to network with each other. This is a great opportunity to learn about and share experiences from SWE involvement, graduate school, and more! SWE Region i Leadership and Board of Directors members are also invited to attend.
